The second thing you need to do is browse for the image you want to crop. After choosing an image, click on open, and your image will load in Inkscape. Now, I’ll show you how you can use the rectangles and squares option from the Inkscape tool panel to crop your image.

Add the selected shape to the part of the image that you want to crop. After adding your shape, press F1. Alternatively, you can click on the Select and transform shape tool, represented by the mouse arrow icon in the Inkscape tool panel.

Next, you need to press the Shift key and use your mouse cursor to select both the added shape and image simultaneously. Remember that you need to hold the Shift key until the operation is complete.

Now set the clip on the part of the image that you wish to crop. The clip feature in Inkscape allows users to hide all other objects apart from the clipped one. To do so, click on the object menu. When you are in the object menu, look for the clip option, explore its sub-menu, and finally click on set.

Now Inkscape will crop the image according to the added shape. If you look at your image and think that it isn’t well cropped, you can reset the parameters by releasing the clipped section. To do this, open the object menu, move to the clip sub-menu, and click on the release option.
